Courtney + Matt

October 5, 2019

Courtney & Matt are one of my most joyful, down to earth, fun, kind, and sentimental couple. They make you feel as though you’ve been a part of their lives forever! To say the least, these two have a very special place in my heart, and I am absolutely thrilled to share their wedding day with you!

Their wedding day was an incredible day that took them back to the most special place, Courtney’s family farm in Milton, ONT. Even though, it was a place with great childhood memories. It is now filled with new emotions, fun times, and memories that will last for a lifetime.

Their wedding day was filled with loads of family fun, live ceremony music, and one heck of a party! The sweetest tradition of all was the gift for Matt’s mom – a corsage made in her honour since she couldn’t be present for their big day. Matt’s mom passed away a few months leading up to the wedding. This touch my heart more than words can say because my mom wasn’t able to be apart of my wedding day. Losing her was one of the main reason’s I quit my bank job and ventured out full fledge in the photography world. When I lost my mom 4 years ago, I didn’t have a lot of pictures and memories of her. I made it my goal to help preserve moments for families/friends so, they wouldn’t be in the same position my brother and I was in.

I know how special our moms are, and to not have them be present on such a special celebration is tough.  When I saw the picture frame of Matt’s mom with her corsage sitting on a wooden chair at the alter. It brought tears to my eyes. So, I guess you could say all the emotions I felt on my day about not having my mom around – came through. I saw Matt walking in the backyard with the boys with the biggest smile/grin ever – the same smile when he looks right into Courtney’s eye. He was so strong, brave, and one tough cookie!! I took those emotions, wiped my eyes, took a deep breathe, and made it my goal to literally shoot my heart and soul out.

Sometimes being a photographer (wedding photographer) can be a tough and intimidating business. All the competition, the pressure, being your worst critic of yourself – that it can bring a lot of worry and doubt. Surrounding yourself with the most wonderful people, their energy, and amazing hearts can truly help you stay grounded.

I must admit, Matt and Courtney’s wedding truly took me back to a place of reflection and humbleness. Courtney and Matt, “I want to thank you both for allowing me to grow as an artist, giving me a purpose and giving me that little piece of inspiration back. I love you both so much! xoxo.”
